Dark Chocolate Granita on top of Toasted Almond Granita served with a warm brioche…heavy sigh!!!  We have moved into fall and the Granita and Gelato has disappeared from most of the shops…Truly a sad time in Sicily…If you look real hard you can still find gelato in some of the very touristy areas, but the Granita has vanished until Spring!

Pistacchio granita, creamy and refreshing, served with a whole wheat croissant (cornetto integrale) and filled with honey (miele)…

Toasted Almond (mandorle tostata) granita, topped with whipped cream and served with a light and lemony brioche…  Dolce Arte from Frigintini never disappoints!

The huge “Cono di Passeggio”  loosely translated…”walking cone”.  A cone large enough to last as you wander about town.  Hazelnut gelato (nocciola), covered with dark chocolate and chopped nuts!

Little cones…coconut, hazelnut, strawberry, coffee, lemon, pistacchio, semifreddo rolls, and dark chocolate covered gelato bites…who can pick just one?

Semifreddo rolls dipped in coconut…dark chocolate covered semifreddo…a partially frozen Italian dessert!

Dark Chocolate covered semifreddo with Gold leaf flecks!

Almond Granita and Dark Chocolate Granita side by side with chopped toasted almonds!

Summer seems so far away….  One of our favorite places year round, Le Petit Café in Giarratana, Sicily!

Gelato Cakes covered with Pistacchio Cream, Dark Chocolate , Pistacchios and Hazelnuts, Lemon, Strawberries and Raspberries!  A few of the cakes will still be made throughout the winter for special occasions, but the Gelato and Granita goes away until around the 1st of April…  It’s a sad time, but we must remember, they will be back soon!
