Shooting weddings in Fiji was absolutely amazing. Everyone was happy (mostly), we stayed at incredible resorts for the night of each wedding, we ate delicious food and we worked incredibly hard.
The weddings themselves were wonderful, the receptions and parties after the weddings were amazing and fun with super photo and video opportunities!
The booking of weddings, flight schedules and flights on very small planes no matter what the weather, the boat rides in very small boats no matter what the weather……the hours and hours of editing, Lightroom and Photoshop after each wedding, the mailing of all the wedding photos and video from a small tropical island…. well, those are the things not many people think about or realise the complexity of managing, on islands in the Pacific. You absolutely had to be there on a certain day and time, there were no do-overs! We had to fly or take a small boat to most wedding venues. It could be very challenging, frustrating, dangerous, exhilarating and crazy. But it was still an incredible experience and we did it for almost 10 years.
We met wonderful and interesting people from all over the world. Our brides and grooms were of all ages and countries. The weddings varied in size from only the couple to hundreds of guests.
We met Resort owners and managers, ex-pats, tour company operators, real estate agents and Italian food importers that we are still great friends with and have hopes of them visiting us in Sicily.
We went through several major cyclones, downed trees and flying coconuts, resort fires, raging storms, dragging anchors, mooring lines fouling the prop resulting in almost losing the boat on a reef… but we wouldn’t have done anything differently. Our life together has been a non-stop grand adventure… sometimes wild and terrifying, more so exciting and eye-opening, but always incredible and looking forward to whats around the next corner. The adventures continue as we head to Sicily for the continuing chapters in the most amazing story we could ever have imagined. Our crazy life together, not always easy, but never a dull moment.
