ONE ISLAND AT A TIME

After that first live-aboard dive trip, we sold almost everything we owned,
quit our jobs in Montana and headed to Florida for sailing lessons.
We decided that all of those sailboats that we had seen in the BVI looked
like a wonderful adventure and why couldn’t we do the same thing?
It couldn’t be that hard.

Remember that “not pay me back” quote from earlier…..Well, it has been paid back many times over with the most fantastic, adventurous, 27 years imaginable!

The journey continues as we restore our stone barn and explore Sicily.

BELLA STALLA
“beautiful stable”

Having settled this time on the island of Sicily we have restored a gorgeous little ancient stone stable on our terraced hillsides.  This turned into an 8 year project and still going strong, more on that later.  We are now enjoying picking our Tonda Iblea olives and cold pressing our own Extra Virgin Olive oil.  The Carob trees are full of huge brown pods every September which we collect and deliver to be processed.  In spring the Almond trees are full of sweet scented white and magenta flowers and summer brings the apricots and pears bursting with juice at first bite.  There are non-stop food festivals, festivals with booming and deafening fireworks and carnivals with incredible floats and caricatures that have been held continually for millenniums. Amazing ancient temples & ruins make it impossible to ever run out of sites to see and explore.  Mouthwatering Parmigiano Reggiano, Pecorino, Caciocavallo, Ricotta, Provolone and Mozzarella fresh from the local cheesemakers and wine from the local vineyards with bold and fruity reds, crisp and clear whites and all the bubbly Prosecco you could ever desire.
Life is good….  Oh, and did I mention the gelato?
