The tomatoes (pomodori)…what can I say, cherry tomatoes, date tomatoes, salad tomatoes and cooking tomatoes.  So juicy and as sweet as candy!

It’s that time!  The tomato plants in my garden are growing and the vegetables are abundant in the many food markets around Sicily!

The colors are incredible, the atmosphere in the markets exhilarating!  The possibilities of recipes swirling around you!  Just look at these red onions! (cipolle)

Fennel anyone?

Sun-Dried Cherry Tomatoes…a Sicilian specialty!

My favorite…Cavolfiore Viola, a purple broccoli.  I bake it, broil it, use it raw in salads and add it to many pasta dishes!

So many wonderful types of mushrooms (funghi).

Sweet Peppers, Bell Peppers, Hot Peppers (peperoni)

Artichokes (Carciofi)… Fields of these wonderful globes for as far as the eye can see!

Did I mention those mouthwatering tomatoes…

Anchovies (acchiughe) and Sardines (le sarde) …fresh from many coastal areas in Sicily and the main ingredient in the famous Pasta con le Sarde!

Eggplant (melanzane) and Cauliflower (cavolfiore) of every color and shape.

Radishes (ravanelli)….I think the Reds have it!

Garlic (aglio) and Mint (menta)!  Incredible and used in everything!
